Ingredients
- 400g paneer, cubed
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 medium tomatoes, pureed
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Fresh cilantro, chopped for garnish
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and salt. Add the paneer cubes and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan on medium heat. Add the marinated paneer cubes and sear them until golden brown on all sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the remaining oil and butter. Add the cumin seeds and sauté until aromatic.
- Add the chopped onions and cook until golden brown. Stir in the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.
- Add the kasuri methi and mix well, then pour in the heavy cream. Cook for another 5 minutes, ensuring the sauce is smooth and creamy.
- Gently add the seared paneer cubes to the sauce. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, allowing the paneer to absorb the flavors.
- Adjust salt to taste and garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side, along with naan or steamed rice.
